Text compilation: Charles Mee's 'Salome,' Chuck Pahlaniuk's 'Invisible Monsters,' lonelygirl15, Margaret Atwood and various classified ads from the Village Voice and Craigslist'

Raised to be a suburban domestic goddess, our heroine employs 7 pairs of shoes and innumerable Craigslist classifieds to escape her predetermined life.  7 Veils, a one-woman dance-theater piece, is a pastiche of images and text inspired by Charles Mee’s Salome.

In a light, social satire of the control that benefactors hold over today’s artistic work, Under the Influence, shares the story of three determined, elderly balletomanes when they decide to hold the performers hostage in order to present their own artistic vision.


Etta (2008)

The Tarp Piece... Vegas Wedding (2007)

Made possible in part by Materials for the Arts, and by the Field's FAR residency program.

A woman's wedding plans suddenly fly out of her hands as we witness her journey through everyone's presumptions about what her wedding and subsequent married life should be.  Central to the piece are the various incarnations of a white, plastic 16'x18' tarp– her wedding gown, her pregnant belly, etc.

Play the Dance (2006)
Premiere:  chashama OASIS Festival, New York, NY, July 2006
Length: variable from 20-60 minutes
Music compilation: Songs with color as a prevalent theme or element
5 dancers, 1 actor/emcee 

Originally intended to be performed in a storefront window, audience passersby are invited by an emcee - the "lady in red" - standing outside to interact with the dancers. By pressing buttons affixed to the outside of the window and call the dancers on their cellphones, everybody gets to 'activate' the dancers and 'direct' the dance.
