grand gesture is a
dance-theater exploration of
love - what you expect and
what you find. It weaves
together dance, text,
sculpture, Slavic folk music
and homespun films to create a
textural work reminiscent of a
poetry anthology. Music will
be performed live by
The New York Slavs, 6
young women who began singing
Eastern European music
together as members of the
Yale Women's Slavic Chorus in
New Haven, Connecticut.
This
production was
presented in the summer of
2009 through HERE Arts
Center's
Summer Sublet Series, which
provides artists with
subsidized space and
equipment, as well as
technical and administrative
support. The development of
