Alsomitra
Where is the
line that divides our external
states from our internal
states, and what keeps us from
crossing back and forth?
‘Alsomitra’ is a surrealistic
dance work that examines the
fine line between our public
and private personas.
The title, ‘Alsomitra,’
refers to the seeds of the
Alsomitra vine. In order to
find the right growth
conditions, these seeds drift
on wings large as dinner
plates. As soon as they touch
land, the wings rot. These
seeds are a metaphor for the
women: floating nuts.
Three women take part in a
series of job interviews,
revealing layer upon layer of
intent and self. As they pass
through a transparent wall
dividing their states of
being, we bear witness to the
shift in their personas.
